The Deshret Crown

Posted on April 26 2014

Deshret is the formal name of lower Egypt's Red Crown. Nicknamed after the desert red land on both sides of Kemet. Deshret has a distinctive high crest at the back with a long rigid line that angles upwards towards the front with a spiral twist at the end. This Unique and one of a kind crown was passed from one Pharaoh to the next both male and female and one was never found in any sarcophagus like other crowns. The Deshret not only symbolizes "Royalty and Power" but is also the letter "Nn" in ancient Egyptian language hieroglyphs. Look forward to more post about the Deshret crown and those who wore it.
